Building Sustainable Communities is the online scratchbook of John Galloway of San Francisco, California. He began this blog when he lived in Portland, Oregon, working on waste management, energy, and sustainable community organizing.  It is his venue for expressing ideas about sustainability, building community, collaborative tools, shared resources, and other topics du jour. John is a freelance writer, consultant, environmental advocate, policy wonk, community facilitator, number cruncher, musician, licensed bodywork instructor, dancer, and bona fide bon vivant. He has experience in government, non-profits, small business, and consulting environments. His aim is to facilitate the successful building of sustainable communities at all scales, shapes, and sizes, and reinventing cultural thinking and values to shift away from competitive egocentrism and toward collaborative, egalitarian, interdependent relationships and community orientation. He invites you to offer comments and interaction here!!! This is not about “me,” it’s about “we.”
